Shock Liverpool transfer target could be set for awkward reunion with Darwin Nunez
A shock Premier League star has emerged as a Liverpool transfer target as Darwin Nunez could be set for an awkward reunion.
Arne Slot has yet to recruit any new players since replacing Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
But the club are closing in on the signing of 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha from Chelsea.
Liverpool, however, have been linked with a host of players ahead of kicking off their new era under Slot.
Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi is thought to be on the Reds' transfer wish-list, with the defender thought to be worth £51.1 million, according to Caught Offside.
His price tag increased after a brilliant Euro 2024 campaign with England.
A cheaper alternative could be on the cards as the same report claims Liverpool are also monitoring Guehi's teammate Joachim Andersen, who once clashed with Nunez.
On his full Premier League debut, Nunez headbutted Anderson, resulting in a red card.
Since that incident in the 2022/23 season, Anderson has excelled at Palace as he made an impressive 37 league appearances last season.
His performances at the back haven't gone unnoticed as Liverpool are reportedly pursuing the Danish international, who represented his country at this summer's Euro 2024.
The 28-year-old has been at the Selhurst Park outfit since the summer of 2021, having enjoyed a loan spell at Fulham.
He's played 103 league matches across three seasons and has established himself as one of the best defenders in England's top flight.
Slot has the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Jarrell Quansah and Sepp van den Berg to call upon at centre-back.
But Van den Berg has been linked with a move away from Anfield as well as Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams.
Liverpool face stiff competition to land Anderson's services as Tottenham and Newcastle United are also thought to be interested.
Newcastle are keeping tabs on Guehi, too.
