Early Exits:

- United States: A shocking disappointment for the host nation. The US suffered an early exit after defeats to Panama and Uruguay in the group stage.
- Brazil: The first major upset of the tournament. The mighty Brazilians were eliminated by Uruguay in a dramatic penalty shootout after the quarterfinal match ended in a draw.
Tournament Format Reminder:
The 16-team Copa America is played in a round-robin group stage with four groups of four teams each. Only the top two teams from each group advance to the quarterfinals. From there, it's a single-elimination knockout bracket, with penalty shootouts deciding drawn matches (except for the final, which has extra time before penalties).
