Italy Euro 2024 squad

Italy Euro 2024 squad

On May 23rd, Italy unveiled a 30-man preliminary squad for Euro 2024, with head coach Luciano Spalletti aiming to repeat the team's success from the 2020 tournament.

Spalletti Takes Over After Mancini Era

Spalletti assumed the coaching role in summer 2023 following Roberto Mancini's departure. He successfully guided the Azzurri through qualification, finishing second behind England in their group at the end of 2023.

Expanded Squad to be Trimmed

Similar to Germany and the Netherlands, Italy opted for a larger initial selection pool. This squad will be reduced to the final 26 players by June 6th, as mandated by UEFA regulations.

Ending a Long Wait for European Glory

Italy's victory in the Euro 2020 final against England marked the culmination of a long journey. They had previously fallen short in the 2012 final (against Spain) and the 2000 final (against France). Their sole previous European Championship title came in 1968.

Breakdown of Italy's Euro 2024 Squad

Spalletti's selections largely mirrored those from the March friendlies against Venezuela and Ecuador.
