'We just didn't do that': Maguire demands aggression from Man United after Newcastle loss
Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has demanded more aggression from his teammates after their 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United.
The Red Devils suffered their third successive loss to the Magpies across all competitions, and Maguire was one of the few players who emerged from the game with any credit.
Speaking to club media after the match, Maguire said: "We know we've got to do better. We've got to play better, the team's got to perform better. We've got to play with a lot more intensity and tempo.
"We've got to win more duels – I feel that in the first half, we lost far too many duels. Every 50-50, we got beat in."
The England international added: "We've got to be aggressive, we've got to play on the front foot, we've got to play at a big tempo and we just didn't do that well enough tonight."
Man United's defeat leaves them five points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa, and Maguire is concerned that their chances of finishing in the top four are slipping away.
He said: "It's a concern, of course it is. We're Manchester United and we want to be up there fighting for the top four.
"But we've got to start winning games again and we've got to start playing better. We know we can do it, but we've got to show it on the pitch."
