The damning Rasmus Hojlund stat that sums up his Manchester United career so far
An alarming Rasmus Hojlund stat has perfectly summed up his Manchester United career so far.
During the summer transfer window, 20-year-old Hojlund joined United from Serie A side Atalanta in a deal worth a reported £72 million.
Hojlund came in and was expected to produce the goods due to his big price tag.
However, he has so far only managed five goals in 20 appearances.
All five of the Danish international’s goals have come in the Champions League, with the striker yet to open his account in the Premier League.
This weekend, Hojlund will hope to finally end his Premier League drought as United face league leaders Liverpool at Anfield.
Prior to the clash, an alarming stat has emerged, which could explain why Hojlund has struggled in the Premier League so far.
According to The Telegraph, Hojlund is the striker who has received the fewest passes in the Premier League.
The graphic showed that Hojlund has received less than 150 passes from his teammates. In comparison, the player who is received the most, Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung Min, has received nearly 400 passes.
Son is closely followed by Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Cunha, with Burnley star Zeki Amdouni completing the top three.
To make matters worse for United, Anthony Martial is second bottom on the graphic before Hojlund.
Speaking about Hojlund last month, United boss Erik ten Hag has backed his man to become a success at the club.
The Dutchman said: “I think he’s a player who will always be in scoring positions in our team. I am sure, and I am confident he will score goals, and Marcus Rashford the same.
“First of all, we have to work our routines, he misses pre-season, the first four games, but I think from the moment he came in, he gave the team a lot.”
Ten Hag continued: “We’re building the routines and that spilt moment will give him more time and to make better decisions for more goals, but the goals against Galatasaray were brilliant, also the one in Munich.
