Joao Felix explains passionate celebration after scoring against parent club Atleti
Joao Felix has explained his passionate celebration after scoring the winning goal against his parent club Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
The Portuguese forward climbed up the advertising hoardings and spread his arms wide after scoring the only goal of the game in Barca's 1-0 victory.
Felix's celebration was seen as a message to Atletico, who had rejected his permanent transfer to Barcelona in the summer.
However, Felix insists that he holds no grudges against his former teammates.
"My celebration? It was a relief for what I went through this last summer," Felix said after the game.
"Only my family and those around me know what I went through and it has been a relief, especially for them," the attacker added.
"I have nothing against my Atlético teammates," he said. "I love them very much and I want them to do as well as possible except against us [Barca].
"They are like my family," Felix added.
Felix's goal was his second in La Liga this season and his fifth overall for Barca.
The victory was a welcome boost for Barca as they plan to hit back to their best form after a series of disappointing games.
Felix's celebration is sure to be one of the talking points of the season. It is a sign of his determination to succeed at Barca and a message to his former club that he is still a top player.
