Ten Hag 'finally gives up on Antony', considering another Brazilian for January swap deal
Manchester United are reportedly considering signing Flamengo striker Gabriel Barbosa as a replacement for Antony in January.
The Red Devils are said to be keen to strike a deal for Barbosa's services as soon as possible, with Antony having struggled since joining the club in the summer.
A loan stint away could see Antony find the form that prompted United to fork out £82million to acquire his services.
The Brazilian is out of contract in 2024 and thus a fee in the region of £20m is likely to be enough for United to sign the 27-year-old.
However, Ten Hag and co are said to be keen to negotiate and they are ‘willing to offer’ Antony to Flamengo on loan until the end of the season.
Barbosa has scored 20 goals in 55 matches for Flamengo this year.
The 27-year-old is a proven goalscorer in Brazil and has also had experience of playing in Europe, albeit unsuccessfully with Inter Milan.
It remains to be seen whether Flamengo are interested in a swap deal involving Antony, but it is certainly a possibility that Ten Hag is considering.
