'No creativity, no pace, not clinical': Gabby Agbonlahor claims Chelsea fooled Arsenal with Kai Havertz
Kai Havertz's big-money summer transfer to Arsenal is starting to look like a massive mistake, according to former Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor.
Havertz joined the Gunners from Chelsea for a fee of £65 million, but he has struggled to make an impact at the Emirates Stadium, scoring just one goal and providing one assist in 16 competitive appearances.
Agbonlahor has slammed Havertz for his lack of pace, creativity, and clinicalness, and he has questioned why Arsenal paid such a large fee for a player who he believes is not good enough to play for a top club in the Premier League.
"Kai Havertz cost £65 million, Chelsea must have been thinking to themselves, you want to pay that, what?" Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT.
"Wow, we've got £65 million for Havertz! Mason Mount went for big money as well [to Manchester United in the summer transfer window].
"Havertz, he's not quick, he's weak, can't hold the ball up, gets brushed off the ball, no creativity, no pace, not clinical, I don't know what he offers."
Havertz has been given plenty of opportunities to prove himself at Arsenal, but he has consistently failed to impress. It remains to be seen whether he will be able to turn things around, but it is clear that he is under pressure to start performing.
Mikel Arteta has continued to back Havertz publicly, but it is clear that he is starting to run out of patience. If Havertz does not start scoring goals and creating chances soon, he could find himself out of the team.
