'Criminal': Fan slams Xavi for 'reducing' one player to 'mere spectator'
Pedri put in a relatively decent performance in Barcelona's 2-1 victory against Porto but a Blaugrana fan Neal Gardner thinks that Xavi does not utilise the midfielder to his full potential.
"If you’re going to deploy Pedri in an advanced role, he should be running the half-spaces," Neal tweeted.
"Highly active on the ball, functioning as your primarily creator. Instead, he was reduced to a mere spectator. Harmlessly floating around, seeing none of the ball. That is criminal.
"It’s a tempo thing. We lack control. It’s either all too fast, or all too slow. You either bypass him completely, or your buildup breaks up before he even has the opportunity of getting on the ball. This midfield needs *serious* repair."
Barca have secured qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League with the victory against Porto. However, there are many question marks over Xavi as the team isn't playing particularly well.
