Arsenal captain Jorginho refuses to shake hands with Newcastle skipper Jamaal Lascelles after Magpies win
Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles has hit out at Arsenal's sportsmanship after Jorginho refused to shake his hand after their Premier League clash at St James' Park on Sunday.
Lascelles was fuming after the incident, which he believes is "not on" and "unacceptable".
"I was fuming, it's not on," Lascelles said after the game. "I would never refuse to shake an opposition captain's hand, no way. You can have as many arguments as you want on the pitch but shake hands at the end, it's part of the sport."
The two teams had traded hostilities throughout the contest, with Arsenal furious that Gordon's goal was allowed to stand after a long VAR check.
However, Lascelles believes that Jorginho's refusal to shake his hand was a step too far.
"For me, whatever happens on the pitch - handbags or whatever - you show sportsmanship and shake hands afterwards," he said. "He didn't do that, so I'm so glad we beat them. Players like that, I don't think it's acceptable."
Arsenal have yet to comment on the incident.
