'We have a gem on our hands': Chelsea fans sing praise of loanee record breaker in South America
In June this year, Chelsea completed the signing of Ecuadorian wonder kid Kendry Paez. Todd Boehly and his recruitment team might've been looking at some sort of crystal ball to make that signing given the way the player has turned out so far.
On Thursday, Paez, who's only 16 years old, started for Ecuador in their World Cup qualifier and scored a goal. In doing so he smashed the record for the youngest goalscorer in South American qualifiers history.
Chelsea fans on Reddit are simply flabbergasted by the tremendous talent and quality being exhibited by the midfielder. Here's what they're saying:
💭Thunderousboffer: "I’d pay an additional 20m for this kid if we could use him now. Haven’t been this hyped about a Chelsea prospect for a good while."
💭Micky: "The best thing about him for me is that he doesn’t seem like a flash in the pan. He’s not just about flicks and tricks, the kid has a super football brain. He’s super quick, has great feet, an eye for a pass, he’s unselfish and is always looking for space, looking to move, and thinking a step ahead all the time. Massive potential, so exciting given he’s so young! Hope Poch is seeing what we’re all seeing."
💭BogotaLineman: "If this kid was Brazilian he would be as hyped as Endrick. We really have a gem on our hands."
💭Savings: "The fact he is only 16 still surprises me haha. What a steal"
