However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had made the right moves in signing Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka who have bolstered the ailing backline with their presence. Victor Lindelof has cemented his position in the heart of the defence alongside Maguire, while Luke Shaw has made the left-back position his own. The defensive personnel of Solskjaer looks pretty set with Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe, Diogo Dalot, Brandon Williams and Timothy Fosu-Mensah serving as deputies for the above quartet.
In the summer of 2021, they signed Raphael Varane from Real Madrid. He was the regular player in the debut season. Ahead of the season 2023/24, they signed Lisandro Martínez from Ajax and Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord. Ten Hag made two good additions to the defence.

Bruno Fernandes was the standout performer for Manchester United in the last two seasons. He has single-handedly managed the midfield for the club. He played an important role in United’s impressive season in 2020/21, finishing second in Premier League.
With the departure Fred this summer, the Red Devils were short adequate quality options in the midfield. But has changed with the arrival of Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat in the summer transfer window. We are yet to see how the Moroccan international fits into the United squad.
