'I usually always say the truth': Boateng says he was forced to lie that Messi was the best player in the world to play for Barcelona
During his conversation on Rio Ferdinand's Vibe with FIVE podcast, Kevin-Prince Boateng shared a curious revelation.
The ex-Ghana international revealed that he had to lie about his preferences to wear a Barcelona shirt.
"I remember when I arrived in Barca, they asked me straight away who the best player in the world was. I had to say it was Lionel Messi, but I was lying.
"It was one of the biggest lies of my life. I usually always say the truth but this one I had to lie about because I wanted to put on that shirt for one time.
"I always supported Real Madrid when I was a teenager. I love Cristiano Ronaldo. But they told me I had to say that, otherwise I wouldn't play."

Well, in Boateng's own words, he wanted 'to put that shirt for one time,' and ironically, his dream came true.
He wore the Blaugrana jersey just four times during his six-month stint at Barca, with only one of those in front of the Camp Nou crowd.
