'He is one of the best young players I've seen': Phil Foden agrees with Guardiola on one Man City player
Pep Guardiola, not one to throw around compliments lightly, praised Lewis in the post-match press conference. He called him one of the best players he's ever trained, which is a big deal coming from Guardiola.
Phil Foden, who also came through Man City's ranks believes Rico Lewis can be the key player for Man City, after he gets enough game time.
Quoted by the Mirror, Foden said: "He is one of the best young players I've seen. He seems to up our tempo when he's dead sharp in the pockets and makes us play a bit quicker."
"Normally when you’re 18 you're a bit shy in these big games. He's the total opposite. He wants the ball, wants to impress. I like his determination. He's going to be a quality player, he just needs the game time."
Foden added: "He's only going to get better with this coach given how he improves players. He just has to pay attention and want to get better. I don't have to tell Rico that, he knows what he's doing. But I’m delighted to have an academy player playing in these big games, it's a dream come true for me."
Manchester City had a fantastic win against RB Leipzig in the Champions League, and one player who stood out was Rico Lewis. Lewis, alongside Phil Foden, formed a dynamic midfield duo.
