Shakira opens up about her split from Pique and her new music

Shakira, the pop icon from Colombia, has revealed the details of her painful split from Gerard Pique, the football star, in an interview with Billboard. She said she wanted to have a life-long relationship with him, but he betrayed her and cheated on her with a younger woman.

The singer, who is 46 years old, said she is still "battling her demons" after the break up, which happened last summer. They were together for 11 years and have two sons, Milan and Sasha.

She also said that her music career suffered when she lived in Barcelona with Pique and his family. She said she was dedicated to him and sacrificed her own well-being for love. She said she felt like a fish out of water who returned to the sea when she moved to Miami with her children.

She said that in Miami, she has more opportunities to collaborate with other artists and produce new tracks. Some of her new songs are about how Pique hurt her and how she left him. She said she compared the split to being "thrown in the trash and surrounded by rats".

She also admitted that it is not easy to be a single mom and a pop star at the same time. She said she has to juggle between her work and her kids.
