Kylian Mbappe 'could be tempted' to join Liverpool as Mo Salah opens door for PSG transfer

Liverpool remain a potential transfer destination for Kylian Mbappe if he leaves PSG next summer, according to a new report.

Mbappe's contract at PSG expires at the end of the current season, and it appeared for much of the summer that he was likely to depart the club after declaring that he would not activate an optional extension in his deal.

But after banished from first team training in July, the club announced that they would reintegrate the Frenchman after positive talks before their 0-0 draw against Lorient on the opening day of the Ligue 1 season.

Mbappe has scored five goals in just three league appearances since his return to the side.

According to L'Equipe, the France international is willing to leave a £100 million loyalty bonus, contained within his PSG contract, 'on the table'.

Should he leave PSG, it is widely expected that he will make a dream move to Real Madrid this summer, with Los Blancos deciding not to replace Karim Benzema during the recent transfer window.

But it is claimed that Liverpool remain an option - particularly in light of Al Ittihad's interest in Mohamed Salah.

L'Equipe also claim that if Liverpool launch a bid for Mbappe, he could be 'tempted' by the offer.

They also recall how Mbappe met with Reds representatives and owner John W Henry on a plane which was circling over the Cote-d'Azur, in 2017.

Mbappe, tipped to be a future Ballon d'Or winner, explained to Spanish outlet Marca last year: "I have spoken to Liverpool because red is my mother's favourite colour and she loves Liverpool. Why? I don't know.

"We met with them a few years ago when I was at Monaco. It's a great club."

The Reds may be able to afford a staggering offer for Mbappe if they decide to sell Salah to the Saudi Pro League this summer.

The Saudi league has already submitted a bid totalling £150 million to sign Salah for Al Ittihad, which was promptly turned down by the Reds. The club, and manager Jurgen Klopp, insist the Egyptian winger is not for sale.

But the league will not be deterred, with The Sun claiming it will return with an eye-watering £215 million offer for the 31-year-old this week. The Saudi Pro League transfer window closes on Thursday, September 7.
