Joao Palhinha tells Fulham he wants a January transfer
Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha is reportedly eager to leave the club in the upcoming January transfer window. Despite previous interest from Manchester United, Palhinha is said to prefer a move to Bayern Munich.
The Portugal international has garnered attention in the Premier League, and it was reported that Man Utd had considered signing him before opting for Sofyan Amrabat.
With the acquisition of Amrabat and other midfield options like Casemiro and Scott McTominay, it's unlikely that United will pursue another signing in that position.
For Bayern, Palhinha could be a potential replacement for Ryan Gravenberch, who joined Liverpool in the summer. This news comes as a setback for Fulham, who narrowly avoided losing their star player in the summer and now face the prospect of his departure in January.
Joao Palhinha Failed move to Bayern
Joao Palhinha's move to Bayern Munich collapsed on the last day of the summer transfer window. Fulham had agreed a fee of €65 million ($70.5m) with Bayern for the Portuguese midfielder, but the deal was contingent on Fulham signing a suitable replacement before the deadline.
Fulham had been in talks with Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, but the player reportedly rejected a move to Craven Cottage. As a result, Fulham were unable to secure a replacement for Palhinha and the deal was called off.
Palhinha was reportedly keen on the move to Bayern and was even pictured at the club's training ground wearing a home shirt. However, he will now have to stay at Fulham for the time being.
