Joao Cancelo reveals his three goals to secure permanent Barcelona move in 2024
Joao Cancelo, the Barcelona loanee, has opened up about his ambitions to stay at the Catalan club beyond his current deal. The Portuguese right-back, who joined Barca from Manchester City this summer, said that he always dreamed of playing for the Blaugrana and that he is determined to prove his worth on the pitch.
Cancelo, who spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich, where he won the Bundesliga and the Champions League, said that he took a risk to push for a move to Barcelona, but that he had no regrets. He said that his family knew that Barca was his dream club and that he only wanted to play for them.
However, he also acknowledged that his future at the club depends on his performances and the club's decision. He said that his priority is to perform well, win titles, and bring Barca back to where they deserve. He said that he hopes that the club will sign him permanently next year, but that he is focused on the present.
Cancelo said: “My family knows that my dream club was always Barça. It was a risk to keep pushing for this move, for sure… but I only wanted FCB. It’s up to Barça (to make deal permanent) & my performances.”
“As if you perform, club usually want you to stay. If not, forget about staying. Priority: perform well, win titles, bring Barça back where they deserve and then we see whether I’m staying or not.”
Cancelo has been one of the standout players for Barca this season. He has shown his versatility and quality on both ends of the pitch, contributing to the team's defensive solidity and attacking flair.
Cancelo will be hoping to continue his impressive form and help Barca challenge for trophies this season. The club is currently second in La Liga, two points behind leaders Real Madrid.
