Video: Gerrard and His Players Celebrate Second Consecutive League Victory with Dance and Song

Steven Gerrard has unquestionably commenced his tenure as the new manager of Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq on a positive note.

The former Liverpool midfielder, who assumed leadership of the Pro League side earlier this summer, has secured his second consecutive league victory at the helm of the club.

Following his arrival in July, the former England captain required some time to secure his initial triumph, as his team failed to secure victory in their first four pre-season friendlies.

However, it is evident that they are finding their stride when it truly matters, as they recently clinched a notable 2-1 victory against Al-Nassr, the team of Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane. Furthermore, they continued this impressive streak on Friday with a 2-0 win against Al-Hazm.

Their league campaign has commenced flawlessly, with Gerrard's side now sharing the top position in the Saudi Arabian Pro League, having accumulated six points, along with Al-Ahli.

Understandably, Gerrard's squad is exuberant about their excellent start to the 2023-24 season. A video initially shared on the club's Instagram captures the moment when the Liverpool legend enters the changing rooms after their victory against Al-Hazm on Friday night.

While the team can be seen celebrating the victory, rhythmically pounding on a table in the center of the room, and rejoicing through song and dance, the English manager, though sporting a smile, steps into the frame and playfully repeats, 'It's only two games!'

Gerrard joins the crowd of jubilant players, raising two fingers in jest, and then directs his players, 'Hey! It's only two games,' followed by applause, briefly partaking in the revelry.

With an expansive grin, he turns toward the camera, equally elated by the victory.

This marks a much brighter beginning to the season compared to the start of their 2022-23 campaign. In that season, Al-Ettifaq suffered defeat in their opening match and subsequently secured a draw in the second.

Last season, they concluded their domestic league standing in seventh place, whereas Gerrard, in his capacity as manager, has since enacted several enhancements to the squad, which includes the acquisition of his former Liverpool teammate, Jordan Henderson.

In the recent triumph against Al-Hazm, the former Liverpool captain did not partake, but he made his league debut for the Pro League side against Al-Nassr last week, boasting an 87-minute playtime.

He finalized a contract worth £700,000 per week to join the Saudi club, although this move has drawn criticism from an LGBTQ+ Liverpool supporters group.
