Cristiano Ronaldo gives up hat-trick penalty to struggling Al Nassr teammate

Cristiano Ronaldo gave up the chance to complete a hat-trick for Al Nassr as he passed up a penalty after scoring two goals.

Ronaldo's team beat Al Shabab 4-0 on Tuesday in their Saudi Pro League clash as he bagged a first-half brace, slotting in two penalties.

Former Liverpool striker Sadio Mane added a third before the break, with Sultan Al-Ghannam rounding off the scoring in the 80th minute.

The former Manchester United man, however, could have bagged a hat-trick when Al Nassr were awarded a penalty just after the hour mark.

With the superstar forward on two goals, he decided to give the ball to Abdulrahman Ghareeb, denying himself a potential hat-trick.

Ghareeb was given the chance to score from the spot as he had been struggling for from. Fans in attendance weren't pleased, with Ronaldo and Mane gesturing to the crowd to support him.

Unfortunately for the player, he fluffed his lines. He rattled the post and scored the rebound, but the match referee blew his whistle for an infringement.

The Portuguese's gesture was ultimately in vain as Ghareeb failed to score the penalty.

But it shows the characteristics of the five-time Ballon d'Or winner that he was willing to give up a potential goal to help out his teammate.

It's even more commendable considering the 38-year-old would have reached 850 career goals.

Al Nassr, meanwhile, move to sixth in the league, with six points on the board.

They resume their league campaign on Saturday with an away fixture against Al Hazm.
