Manchester United injury update
Manchester United have been hit by a number of injuries in the early stages of the 2023/24 season. Here is a round-up of the latest news on the injured players:
- Luke Shaw: The left-back is expected to be out for at least three months after sustaining a hamstring injury in training. He is not expected to return until November.
- Mason Mount: The midfielder is also expected to be out for a few weeks after picking up a knock in the win over Tottenham. He is not expected to play before the international break in September.
- Raphael Varane: The defender was taken off at half-time in the win over Nottingham Forest with a groin injury. The severity of the injury is not yet known, but he is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks.
- Tyrell Malacia: The left-back is still recovering from an unspecified injury that he picked up in pre-season. He is not expected to return to training until October.
- Kobbie Mainoo: The young midfielder is also recovering from an injury that he sustained in pre-season. He is expected to be back in action in late September or October.
- Amad Diallo: The winger is also injured, but he is expected to make a return in the next few weeks.
- Rasmus Hojlund: The forward has joined first-team training and is expected to make his debut in the next few weeks.
The injuries have left Manchester United short of options in a number of positions. Erik ten Hag will be hoping that the injured players can return to action soon, as they will be key to his side's chances of challenging for silverware this season.
