Liverpool 'reach agreement' over Ryan Gravenberch transfer

Liverpool have reached an agreement with Bayern Munich to sign Ryan Gravenberch, Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

The Reds opened talks with Bayern on Wednesday, according to The Athletic, over a move for the Netherlands international midfielder.

It was claimed that the deal was contingent on Bayern sourcing a replacement before the deadline, with Fulham's Joao Palhinha said to be of interest.

Cottagers boss Marco Silva indicated in a press conference on Thursday that another club was interested in signing the Portuguese midfielder, but did not elaborate further.

Now, Romano claims that Gravenberch has taken one step closer to joining the Reds.

Taking to Twitter, Romano revealed that Liverpool and Bayern have reached an agreement over a deal which will see Gravenberch move to Anfield for an initial fee of €40 million (around £35 million).

He tweeted: "Ryan Gravenberch to Liverpool, here we go! €40 million plus €5 million in add-ons. Five-year deal, he will fly to Liverpool this evening.

"Agreement in place and medical tests booked. Deal was negotiated by Jose Fortes Rodrigues from Raiola [agency]."

Earlier on Thursday, a private plane from Germany to the United Kingdom was tracked - creating the theory that Gravenberch may already be on his way to England.

But he is now set to fly in to rubberstamp a deal to join the Reds, a year on from their previous pursuit of the midfielder prior to his move to Bayern.

However, things didn't quite go to plan for Gravenberch after signing for the Bundesliga giants last summer. He made 24 appearances - mostly as a substitute - and was named on the bench for each of Bayern's first three matches this season.

But, at 21 years old, the Dutchman is still regarded a current and future footballing talent, and The Athletic claim that Jurgen Klopp sees him as a versatile fit for his new-look midfield.

Should the deal be finalised, Gravenberch will become Liverpool's fourth summer signing. Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo have all already joined the club.

Whether that is an end to Liverpool's transfer business remains to be seen, although they have allowed centre-back Nat Phillips to join Celtic on loan.
