'I'm very happy': Former France president comments on Mbappe staying at PSG
Former France president Nicolas Sarkozy has expressed his delight at Kylian Mbappe's decision to stay at Paris Saint-Germain this season.
Speaking to Le Parisien, Sarkozy said: "I'm very happy that Mbappé is staying. It's what's best for him, PSG and France."
The 23-year-old had been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, but he ultimately decided to stay in Paris.
Sarkozy believes that Mbappe's decision is a positive one for all parties involved.
"It's a win-win situation," he said. "Mbappé stays in France, where he is loved and appreciated, and PSG keep their star player.
"It's also good for the French national team, as Mbappé will be able to continue to develop and reach his full potential."
Mbappe's decision to stay at PSG is a major boost for the club, who are hoping to win the Champions League for the first time.
The striker is one of the best players in the world and his presence will give PSG a major advantage in their quest for European glory.
It remains to be seen if Mbappe will sign a new contract with PSG beyond 2025, but for now, his decision to stay is a major positive for the club and for French football.
