Gavi's registration case still in court — he could become a free agent next month
The case surrounding Gavi's new contract is still in court as La Liga are appealing an earlier verdict allowing Barcelona to register the player based on a deal he signed on June 30.
According to Mundo Deportivo, if the judge decides to rule in favour of La Liga, Gavi's contract will be rescinded and the player will have to leave Barca as a free agent in September.
Barca's priority right now is to secure the future of the talented midfielder by getting the FFP margin required to register his contract which runs until 2026.
The departure of players like Clement Lenglet and Ansu Fati will help, but president Joan Laporta is also prepared to table a €20m back guarantee from his own assets.
Barcelona also have to register the contracts of players like Inaki Pena and Inigo Martinez which are still pending.
