Fans fume at Mason Mount for his reaction after Man United’s dreadful defeat vs Tottenham Hotspur

Fans have blasted Mason Mount for his reaction after Manchester United’s defeat by Tottenham Hotspur.

On Saturday evening, United arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium looking to make it back-to-back wins in the 23/24 Premier League campaign.

However, Erik ten Hag’s men produced another below-par performance and were punished by Spurs.

A goal from Pape Sarr and an own goal by Lisandro Martinez sealed a 2-0 win for Ange Postecoglou’s men.

On the back of the final whistle, summer signing Mount appeared to smile with Spurs star James Maddison as they walked off the pitch.

This reaction has not gone down well on social media as United fans reacted.

One said: “Is he really smiling after dropping a 0/10? Really?”

Another tweeted: “If I were Mason Mount, I wouldn't be laughing and smiling after that performance.”

A third fan added: “Mason Mount walking off laughing and Joking with James Maddison.”

Someone else wrote: “Why is he smiling after unironically dropping two of the worst midfield performances i’ve seen in recent times?”

Whilst a fifth commented: “Mason Mount cannot be serious man, why is he smiling after that performance? Have some shame.”

Another fan added: "Mason mount smiling with maddison????? I GET IT YOURE MATES BUT YOUVE BEEN DOING SO BAD BROTHER HAVE SOME REMORSE."

After the match, former United captain Roy Keane said on Sky Sports: “They're a good team, they fancy it when their home fans are in front of them, they've got that support and energy. United go away today.

“Second half, weak, no leadership, gave bad goals away. Spurs were lovely. All credit to them. It's easy to play against Man United also.”

Whilst Ten Hag said: “I am not concerned with our attacking play but I am by our scoring. We know this, that is why we've signed a striker.

“It is one game, on Monday the performance was not good but the result was there. Today the performance was OK but we have to win here. We take the positives, but also know to keep the belief.”
