Eddie Nketiah gets first England call-up - Southgate gives three reasons for his selection.
Eddie Nketiah has received his first call-up to the England national team for the upcoming international break.
With two goals in Arsenal's opening three games, and having won the penalty that Martin Odegaard scored against Crystal Palace, Eddie is in fine form at the start of the 2023/24 campaign.
Aaron Ramsdale, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka have also all been named in Gareth Southgate’s squad.
England travel to Wroclaw in Poland to face Ukraine in UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifying Group C on Saturday, 9 September.
Gareth Southgate said: “It’s an area that we would like to have a look at him. He’s a young player with really good pedigree, very good finisher & it’s good for him to have some time with us. He’s the record goalscorer with the U21s.”
