Chelsea are 'set to open talks' with Man City's Cole Palmer

Chelsea are 'set to open talks' with Manchester City starlet Cole Palmer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Chelsea have added Palmer to the list of attacking players being considered for their final addition ahead of the transfer deadline on Friday.

They view the 21-year-old as the best solution and want to open talks with him soon.

The Stamford Bridge outfit have spent big this summer, notably snapping up Moises Caicedo for a British-record £115 million and Romeo Lavia for £55 million.

But it appears Mauricio Pochettino remains in the market for attacking players, with the Man City man thought to be on high on his transfer wish-list.

Palmer made his Man City debut in the 2020/21 campaign before making his Premier League bow the following season.

He played 25 games in all competitions last season, scoring one goal.

This campaign, he has made three appearances, scoring against Arsenal in the Community Shield and Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup.

Pep Guardiola has previously admitted that he's uncertain over the future of the youngster.

"The opinion I had when he arrived is he wanted to leave, but now I don't know what's going to happen," he said earlier this month.

"I don't think a loan is going to happen. He's going to stay or going to sell, but I think a loan is not going to happen."

The Blues boss added: "I understand he wants to be more active than the previous season.

"But Riyad [Mahrez] has gone so we have one more place there. I cannot say anything because, of course, all the decisions need to be made by the club. The club has to decide what the best is. All together, we will do it."
