Brighton's Twitter account disappears as fans joke Chelsea have bought that as well

Chelsea fans have joked they have purchased Brighton's Twitter account as well - after the page seemingly disappeared off the platform on Wednesday.

The Blues have continued their raid of the South Coast outfit this summer, singing Ecuadorian star Moises Caicedo from the Seagulls. And after some fans noticed Brighton's Twitter account had disappeared, fans immediately joked Chelsea had purchased the page.

"Brighton's Twitter/X account has been deleted... Reckon Chelsea bought that as well," one fan joked. While a second added: "Was great when De Zerbi said the other day 'they can buy our best players, but not our soul and spirit'!"

"Chelsea submitted a £50million offer to Elon Musk to take over the Brighton Twitter account too," a third said. And another added: "Breaking! Chelsea buy Brighton official Twitter handle HERE WE GO!"

Brighton boss De Zerbi made a not so sly dig at the Blues during their pursuit of Caicedo: "Caicedo stays with us until my owner changes his mind. No idea of what can happen in the future — but if Moises leaves we have to find the right player.

“We have to substitute him with a great player because this year we play in the Europa League, unlike Chelsea”

This season, Caicedo and Robert Sanchez have both swapped Brighton for Chelsea. While last season Marc Cucurella and ex-boss Graham Potter both made the short journey to Stamford Bridge.

However, others have gone the other way - such as Levi Colwill and Billy Gilmour, who were both key members of the Seagulls last season.
