BBC apologise to viewers who could hear Spanish commentary during Women's World Cup final

The BBC have apologised to viewers who could hear Spanish commentators in the background of their coverage of the World Cup final.

After days of anticipation, the Lionesses are in the World Cup final as they take on Spain in the hope to win back-to-back tournaments after winning the European Championships last summer.

However, viewers were left a little confused when the game first kicked-off, with fans able to hear the Spanish commentary in the background of the BBC's broadcast.

The issue was promptly dealt with and lead commentator, Robyn Cowen, apologised to viewers, joking that their Spanish colleagues were very excited by the occasion.

"Apologies if you were hearing our Spanish colleagues who are already very, very up for this," Cowen said on commentary.

At the break, England find themselves 1-0 down after Spain's Olga Carmona found the bottom corner with a stunning strike.

The goal came after Lucy Bronze lost possession in the middle of the park, leaving masses of space for Spain to exploit down the left-hand side.

Shortly after conceding, Lauren Hemp struck the crossbar with a brilliant effort. Sarina Weigman's team have it all to do in the second half as they look to break down the Spanish defence.
