Barcelona Reject Chance to Sign Neymar on Loan
Barcelona have rejected the chance to sign Neymar on loan from Paris Saint-Germain as part of the deal to sell Ousmane Dembele.
Neymar has been linked with a move back to Barcelona since leaving the club in 2017 for a world-record fee of €222 million. However, Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez has made it clear that he does not want the 30-year-old back at the club.
"Neymar is a great player, but he is not the player we need," Xavi said in June. "We are looking for players who are committed to the project and who want to help us rebuild the team."
PSG are reportedly keen to sell Neymar this summer in order to free up space in their wage bill. The Brazilian forward is one of the highest-paid players in the world, and his departure would save PSG a significant amount of money.
However, Barcelona are not interested in signing Neymar on loan, even if PSG were willing to pay his wages. Xavi believes that Neymar's presence in the dressing room would be disruptive, and he does not want to risk the harmony of the team.
As a result, Neymar's chances of returning to Barcelona appear to be slim. The Brazilian forward will now have to look elsewhere if he wants to leave PSG this summer.
