Why Romelu Lukaku made Inter Milan and Juventus transfer U-turn amid Chelsea decision

Romelu Lukaku is looking likely to leave Chelsea this summer, but it may be for Juventus instead of Inter Milan

The second half of the campaign saw him mainly feature from the bench, before he then confirmed an exit back to the San Siro on loan. The 30-year-old had a mixed spell back at his former club, with all signs pointing towards a potential return on a permanent deal this summer.

The Nerazzurri saw two bids rejected for the striker and have since been claimed to be out of the race due to reports claiming Lukaku opened up the possibility of a switch to rivals Juventus - who could sell Chelsea target Dusan Vlahovic this summer.

The Telegraph also claim that the striker was unhappy with not starting the Champions League final against Manchester City, which may play a part in his decision to look elsewhere.

It comes as a potential U-turn from Lukaku, who in 2021 said: "If Juventus or AC Milan will call me in the future? Never, never. Again, never. It's never gonna happen. Juventus wanted me before Inter, but when Conte joined Inter it was my priority to join them. In Italy, there's only Inter for me."

While for the Blues it may represent an exit that works for all parties, in Italy there could be some tension over a deal that would see Lukaku switch blue and white for black and white.
