David Beckham was on the verge of tears as Lionel Messi curled in a stunning free-kick on his Inter Miami debut. The fans at DRV PNK Stadium got exactly what they paid for on Friday night, as the greatest player ever to set foot in the United States produced his magic
Just when it looked like Messi's debut would end in disappointment, the Argentine won a free-kick with seconds left to play.
It was a free-kick that was made for Messi, and at a point in the game that no other player in world soccer would be better equipped for. Robert Taylor's opening goal for Miami was ruled out by Uriel Antuna of Cruz Azul, but Messi had the final say.
His free-kick went straight into the top corner to secure a 2-1 win in The Leagues Cup opener, and the crowd went wild. All those in attendance will never forget Messi's debut, and Beckham looked on in disbelief.
