Saudi Pro League sides have spent more than La Liga have already spent this summer
The Saudi Pro League has been making headlines this summer with its extravagant spending on player transfers and wages. According to Transfermarkt, the league has already spent a massive €300.6 million (around £258 million), which is more than La Liga's total spending of €249.8 million.
One of the standout deals was a world-record bid of €300 million accepted by PSG for Kylian Mbappe, but he rejected the move to Al Hilal. If the transfer had gone through, it would have more than doubled the entire league's spending.
Currently, the Saudi Pro League ranks fifth on the list of big-spending leagues, behind the Premier League (€1.34 billion), Serie A (€520.9 million), Ligue 1 (€456 million) and Bundesliga (€448.2 million).
La Liga is in fifth place, with its 20 clubs having spent €249.8 million. Real Madrid contributed significantly to this figure, as they signed Jude Bellingham for €103 million and Arda Guler from Fenerbahce for €20 million.
Saudi Pro League is expected to continue spending big. For now, Al Nassr is in talks with Bayern Munich over the transfer of Sadio Mane.
