Roma fined by UEFA after missing capital gains goal
Roma failed to achieve its objective of earning just over 28 million euros in capital gains by June 30th, which means they will have to pay a penalty to UEFA.
Calciomercato.com emphasizes that the Giallorossi were about 3 million euros short of their target, so they will have to pay a fine to UEFA, which costs slightly less than 5 million euros.
Roma managed to avoid a harsher punishment, such as a reduction in the European squad list or exclusion from the competition, because they were very close to reaching the objective.
The Giallorossi achieved a net capital gain of around 26 million euros in the financial year ending on June 30th – Benjamin Tahirovic (a surplus of 5.5 million euros), Justin Kluivert (7.5 million euros), Cristian Volpato (7.5 million euros), Filippo Missori (2.5 million euros), Ruben Providence (300,000 euros), and Carles Perez (around 2 million euros), as well as related increases for Nicolo Zaniolo.
Recent offers for Roger Ibanez and Nicola Zalewski had arrived, but the club decided to pay the fine instead of rushing to reach an agreement, giving them more flexibility for this summer.
