Manchester United Kobbie Mainoo emerges as potential transfer alternative to Moises Caicedo
Manchester United might have their very own Moises Caicedo who could save them millions in the transfer window.
Ten Hag is thought to be in the market for another central midfielder this summer as the Dutchman aims to build on the success of last season.
The Red Devils have already signed Mason Mount from Chelsea in a deal worth £65 million, but Ten Hag is thought to want to strengthen his midfield even further.
Brighton's Moises Caicedo had been earmarked as a potential addition, with United willing to break the bank to land the 21-year-old, according to The Athletic.
Although the Seagulls reportedly want £100m in order to part ways with the midfielder - a fee which could see United look elsewhere.
Frustratingly, the club are said to have turned down the opportunity to have signed Caicedo for just £4.5 million in 2021, which will hurt Ten Hag all the more.
Meanwhile, the Financial Fair Play restrictions placed upon United which has limited their transfer budget, could make the Ecuador international unattainable this summer.
However, the Old Trafford outfit may have their very own Caicedo in the shape of Kobbie Mainoo, who could solve Ten Hag's transfer worries.
Mainoo could save Ten Hag millions
Mainoo has been called up to the first-team ahead of United's pre-season friendly against Leeds in Oslo, and he has seriously impressed in training.
The Stockport-born midfielder joined United at the age of nine and has risen through the ranks, before making his first-team debut against Charlton Athletic in United's 3-0 Carabao Cup win in January.
The 18-year-old then came off the bench in their FA Cup victory over Reading, before making his Premier League debut as a substitute against Leicester City in February, later penning a long-term deal at the club.
The young midfielder has gone viral on social media after training clips emerged showing him turning Fred this way and that before passing to a teammate, displaying his technical abilities and composure on the ball.
