Laporta Dismisses Idea of Dembele as Mbappe Replacement at PSG
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has dismissed the idea that Ousmane Dembele could be used as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe at Paris Saint-Germain.
Last year Mbappe signed a new contract with PSG, ending speculation that he could join Real Madrid. However, there have been reports that PSG are still interested in Dembele who they are planning to use as replacement for Mbappe who is a target for Real Madrid and has fail to renew with the Paris club.
Laporta, however, insists that Dembele is not for sale and that he wants to stay at Barcelona.
"Dembélé as a Mbappé replacement? We had this fear last year and it didn't occur," Laporta said. "Dembélé wants to continue at Barça and I think he is not in favor of leaving."
Dembele has been in good form for Barcelona since Xavi Hernandez took over as manager in November. He has scored six goals and provided 13 assists in 21 appearances under Xavi.
