La Liga has signed up for a 'revolutionary change' to football which will see live graphics showing stats on the pitch during fixtures.

Spanish top flight bosses have kicked off a new era with a five-year Electronic Arts partnership, which has even seen the division renamed La Liga EA SPORTS.

In addition, the new venture promises tangible changes in the audiovisual broadcasting and digital ecosystem of the division which includes a full-scale change of graphics.

In a bid to align real football with the new EA Sports FC video game, live stats and patterns will appear on the pitch for those watching at home.

Details over top speeds and average positions have already been teased, as well as passing triangle and average distance of the defensive line.

The updates will no doubt divide fans at home, with football looking more like a video game than ever before.

The examples shown include Yannick Carrasco's distance from goal when taking a free kick, with players from Barcelona and Real Madrid rated on goal contributions in another clip.

The second division in Spain will known be known as La Liga Hypermotion as part of th deal, which refers to technology that has been described as cutting edge.

Javier Tebas, president of La Liga, said: "Today we begin a new era that represents a revolutionary change for both Spanish football and the industry.

"And we do so surrounded by clubs and strategic partners such as EA SPORTS, without whom none of this would have been possible. Together we want to create a better football for society and a better society for our football."

"The support of strategic partners and associates has been and will continue to be fundamental. LALIGA offers a unique product that makes it a key player in the industry.

"It is multi-target, since it reaches people of different ages and backgrounds; it is multi-engagement, and can be interacted with in different ways and with different intensity; and it is multicultural, thanks to its strong global presence."

La Liga has also adopted a minimalist new logo which features a two-letter design, with more changes set to be announced in the coming weeks.
