Edu's son signs new Watford deal after Arsenal exit
Arsenal fans have kept a close eye on the progress of Edu's son following his transfer away from the club - and want him to reunite with Mikel Arteta
Arsenal fans are keeping an eye on Edu's son after he earned a new contract at Watford - with many already predicting his return to the club.
Luigi Gaspar left the Emirates last year after spending three years in their academy, since playing for Watford's under 21s while battling injury woes.
Despite those struggles, the club has seen enough to offer the 19-year-old another deal, this time running until the summer of 2025 as he looks to burst into the first team in the Championship.
The central midfielder shared news of his new contract on Instagram this week - and Arsenal fans flocked to the comments section.
One eager fan posted on social media: "Soon to rejoin his father." A second agreed: "He will come back to the Emirates Stadium soon."
A third posted: "Edu doing Arsenal, Arsenal Women, Arsenal academy and Watford. The goat."
A fourth concluded: "Imagine Edu putting in work at home to sign his son on a free in a few years."
Luigi posted on Instagram: "Very happy to sign my contract extension with Watford. I hope this season things go the way we individually and collectively wanted it."
"Thank you and let's go for more! See you guys soon."
Dad Edu replied in the comments: "Congratulations son! Maximum pride! I love you my love! And we keep on moving."
Edu, who played for Arsenal between 2001 and 2005 and is now their technical director, has been working on a deal to sign Declan Rice from West Ham.
The England man is set to cost a club record £105million, with Arteta eyeing up another Premier League title challenge.
Arsenal are also back in the Champions League next season, with eyes on reaching the latter stages of the competition.
