Bruno Fernandes hits back with response to footage showing him 'ignoring' Andre Onana

The Man United captain has defended himself after a video emerged on social media following the defeat to Real Madrid.

Bruno Fernandes has hit back at ridiculous claims he 'ignored' Andre Onana during Manchester United's pre-season friendly defeat to Real Madrid on Thursday.

Onana played his first game in a United shirt at the NRG Stadium in Houston, following his £47.72million move from Inter Milan last week. Madrid won the match 2-0 thanks to goals from Jude Bellingham and Joselu.

Shortly after the full-time whistle blew, a video emerged on Instagram of the Fernandes walking past Onana after being told some instructions before a Madrid corner. Some people seemed to see it as a problem with accusations he was blanking his new goalkeeper.

But the Reds captain took issue the allegations, commenting on an Instagram post which showed the alledged moment he 'ignored' Onana.

The Portuguese midfielder commented: "Nice how you could see me ignoring him when I was going to the place we was telling me to be positioned in the corner [laughing emoji] Nice try to make it look bad [kissing emoji]".

It's not the first time Fernandes has defended himself. He was falsely accused of asking to come off during United's 7-0 defeat against Liverpool last season and Roy Keane labelled his body language as 'disgraceful' in the aftermath.

"I have no problem people saying bad things about me," Fernandes said in response back in April. "Most of the things said after that game were complete lies. Because I waved my arms or did a signal, they suppose I said something that I didn't say."
