Atletico Madrid willing to accept €20m upwards for midfielder following Ligue 1 interest
Atletico Madrid and Olympique Marseille could do more business this summer, with OM reportedly interested in signing Thomas Lemar.
Lemar, who joined Atletico from Monaco for €72m in 2018, has struggled to live up to expectations in recent years. He has been hampered by injuries and inconsistency, and has never really nailed down a starting spot under Diego Simeone.
FootMercato reports that OM are willing to offer €20m for Lemar, and that Atletico would be open to selling him for that price. The French midfielder would be allowed to leave as one of the club's higher earners, and his departure would free up space for Atletico to sign another central midfielder.
Lemar would face stiff competition for a starting spot at OM, with the likes of Koke Resurreccion, Rodrigo de Paul, and Marcos Llorente all ahead of him in the pecking order. However, he may feel that a move back to Ligue 1 would give him a fresh start and the opportunity to revive his career.
The two clubs have already done business this summer, with Geoffrey Kondogbia joining OM from Atletico. A deal for Lemar would represent another significant transfer between the two sides.
