Aleksandar Mitrovic vows to 'never play for Fulham again' after two Saudi bids rejected

Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has reportedly ‘refused’ to play for the club again in a major meltdown after two bids from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal were rejected

Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has reportedly told relatives he will ‘refuse’ to play for the club again in a sensational turn in the Serb’s future.

Mitrovic has been the subject of two bids from Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal, with the latest said to be worth £25.5million, the exact fee that Fulham brought him to West London for in 2018.

But both bids were unsurprisingly rejected by Fulham, leaving the striker to take matters into his own hands.

The hot-headed 28-year-old is believed to be angry at Fulham’s firm stance on his future with the Cottagers currently pricing him out of a move by valuing him at £52million.

Should an offer meet Fulham’s asking price, it would make him the most expensive signing by a Saudi club this summer, eclipsing Al Hilal’s previous acquisition of Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves for £47million.

Despite joining Fulham's squad on their tour of America, Mitrovic has reportedly told his relatives of his plan and intends to go on strike in an attempt to force the club to let him make a lucrative move to the Middle East, according to Sky Sports.

The former Newcastle United man joined Fulham on an initial loan deal in the winter of 2018 and helped Fulham achieve promotion with 12 goals in 17 games, making his stay permanent at the end of the season.

Mitrovic has since scored 111 goals in 205 games for Fulham, including a record-breaking 43 goals in 44 Championship games in the 2021/22 season.

The Fulham hero also proved his doubters wrong this season as he scored 14 Premier League goals in just 24 games, but fans are unlikely to stick by him now.

Saudi Arabia's Pro League has been the biggest talking point this transfer window with its clubs splashing the cash and hoovering up some of Europe’s best talent with more players set to join the revolution.

Wednesday has already been a busy day for Saudi clubs after Al-Ahli agreed a deal to sign Manchester City treble winner Riyad Mahrez, whilst Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson looks set to seal a £350k-per-week contract with Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq.
