Tubes leaves Sky as Soccer AM icon flooded with messages

Soccer AM star Tubes has left Sky Sports News, prompting huge tributes by Premier League stars.

The presenter, whose real name is Peter Dale, has been a regular fixture on many shows on Sky Sports. Having worked with a wide variety of Premier League stars of past and present, he is an extremely popular figure in the football world.

He is the latest presenter to depart the organisation after the likes of legendary commentator Martin Tyler, Sky Sports Soccer Saturday host Geoff Stelling and Dale's Soccer AM colleague John Fendley, who is best known by his nickname 'Fenners'.

In similar fashion to his former Sky colleagues, the Premier League world has come out to pay tribute to the 41-year-old.

Chelsea legend and former Blues' manager Frank Lampard was one of the first to pay tribute to the television personality. He wrote, "you’ve been more than amazing there. Talented and a great lad. Always a pleasure to work with. Wishing you all the best mate."

Lampard's teammate and former West Londoners' captain John Terry also added his own encouragement, writing, "What a LEGEND what a guy, love ya mate and good luck with your next chapter."

Ex-Liverpool midfielder and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp also added a tribute of his own, commenting: "One of my favourite and most talented people I have worked with Super funny and cool and never taken himself seriously.

"Can’t wait to smash you at golf again soon . You will be a huge success whatever you do." Dale officially announced his departure on his personal Instagram page. He wrote, "it's Sky Sky for now. After 21-and-a-half years, today I leave Sky Sports.

"Massive thanks to the company and all the opportunities it’s given me. It’s been class. BIG Love to everyone Tubes x."

Six of the company's 13 football reporters are believed to be departing their positions.
