The 10 most valuable midfielders in world football, Jude Bellingham is only second

The 10 most valuable midfielders in world football have been revealed.

Last week, England midfielder Jude Bellingham signed for Real Madrid in a deal worth an initial £88.5 million.

However, it was reported that the Bellingham deal could surpass £115 million with add-ons, which makes him the most expensive British player ever at the age of just 19.

Despite that, Bellingham is only ranked second on the list of most valuable midfielders by Football Observatory CIES.

The list has been compiled by a mix of both attacking and defensive midfielders.

Starting in 10th place is Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez, who became the most expensive midfielder in the world when he joined the Stamford Bridge club for a reported fee of €121 million.

However, according to CIES, the Argentine is only valued at

€103 million.

Next up is Manchester City’s Rodri, who scored the winner in the Champions League final earlier in the month. The Spanish international has a transfer value of €105 million.

Madrid duo Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde were in eighth and seventh having been valued at €118 million and €155 million respectively.

City’s Phil Foden was ranked sixth with a transfer value of €166 million, with Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala just ahead of him with a value of €170 million.

Last year’s Golden Boy winner, Pablo Gavi of Barcelona came fourth after being valued at €174 million by CIES.

Kicking off the top three is Gavi’s Barcelona teammate Pedri, who has a transfer value of €178 million.

Madrid’s new star Bellingham misses out on the top spot despite being valued at a huge €190 million.

According to CIES, the most valuable midfielder in world football is Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, the attacking midfielder has been given a transfer value of €195 million.

Saka recently scored his first-ever career hat-trick during England’s 7-0 win over North Macedonia.

After the match, the 21-year-old said: “A perfect end to the season. We're really happy with the turnout and the way the fans supported us from minute one to the end.”
