Roy Keane calls for Manchester United to get a ‘world-class goalkeeper’ after David de Gea woes

Manchester United legend Roy Keane believes his old side have to sign a new goalkeeper after David de Gea's FA Cup final performance.

The Red Devils were beaten 2-1 by arch-rivals Manchester City at Wembley, with Ilkay Gundogan scoring both for the latter.

His first came after just 12 seconds, a stunning volley that flew into the top-right corner of the goal, becoming the fastest goal in FA Cup final history.

Gundogan's second was also a volley, but this one bounced into the ground twice before ending up in the back of the net.

De Gea was criticised on social media following the second, with Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher calling him a 'big problem' for United.

He is not the only one who has concerns about the Spaniard as Keane believes the club need to find a new first-choice option in goal.

Speaking to ITV, he said: "United have got to get a new goalkeeper and a world-class striker. I'm sick of saying it."

The four-time FA Cup winner then added: "United need a world-class goalkeeper, and he isn't."

De Gea's future at United remains uncertain, with his contract set to expire in the summer.

The Red Devils have the option to extend his stay at Old Trafford for a further 12 months, although it appears nothing has yet been decided.

Should he leave in the upcoming transfer window as a free agent, De Gea would depart after featuring 545 times for the club.

However, his final appearance would be one to forget as their noisy neighbours City close in on the treble.

De Gea did in fact win the Premier League Golden Glove award this season thanks to his 17 clean sheets.

Such efforts may not be enough to see him stay at the club though and United could seek a replacement, with Brentford's David Raya being linked.
