Richarlison declares his dream to play for Real Madrid, calls them ‘the biggest club in the world’
Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison has spoken about his dream to play for ‘the biggest club in the world’.
The Brazilian forward has found it tough since joining Spurs from Everton in a deal worth £60 million.
So far, Richarlison has only managed to score one Premier League goal for the North London club in 27 appearances. Across all competitions, the 26-year-old has scored three goals in 35 matches.
This week, he was quizzed about reports linking him with a move to Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid.
Speaking to the media, Richarlison said: “Real Madrid links? Of course, every player wants to wear the shirt of Real Madrid.
“It's the biggest club in the world. But I have a club, a contract, I have to prove why it they bought me for a high price. But any player dreams of playing for Real Madrid.”
During the 22/23 season, Richarlison pulled no punches as he questioned then-Spurs boss Antonio Conte’s decision to put him on the bench.
He told TNT Sports Brazil: “There are things I can't understand.
“There was no explanation again, let's see what he [Conte] will tell me but I'm not silly, I'm a professional that works hard every day and I want to play.
“There hasn't been enough minutes given to me this season - and forgive my language - has been s**t.”
Now, Richarlison will have to make sure he impresses new boss Ange Postecoglou, after he was appointed earlier in the month.
In his first interview, the Australian said: “Hi everyone, it’s great to finally get started as manager of this great football club.
“I’m really looking forward to our task ahead, I think it’s an exciting opportunity for us to now set off in a new direction, play football and create an environment that embodies the values and traditions of this fantastic football club.”
