Premier League unveil new Nike Flight ball for the 2023-24 season
With next season's fixtures now revealed, the Premier League have unveiled their new match ball ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.
The fourth edition of the Nike Flight ball has been released, but it looks markedly different from the one used last term.
The 2022-23 version reflected the original Mitre ball that was used during the first three years of the Premier League between 1992 and 1995 as it contained gold arrows all around the ball.
But the colour pattern will be very different next season, as Nike have opted for a mainly orange pattern with a black and purple trim to complement it.
It is set to be the 24th straight season that Nike has supplied the top-flight's match ball, having taken over from Mitre back in 2000.
Nike claims that the Flight ball offers improved aerodynamics through a revolutionary design.
Pep Guardiola's Treble-winning Manchester City will be involved in the first game that uses the new ball when they take on Burnley on the opening Friday night of the season on August 11.
The Clarets stormed to the Championship title last season under Vincent Kompany, and the former City defender will be hoping to come back to haunt his old club when they travel to Turf Moor on the opening day.
The remaining 18 clubs will then get the chance to test it out themselves over the course of the weekend.
Chelsea hosting Liverpool is the standout fixture, with that clash set to take place on Sunday, August 13, before Manchester United get their campaign underway the following night at home to Wolves.
