Manchester United 'reach agreement with Chelsea over Mason Mount transfer'

United re-entered talks with Chelsea over a move earlier this week, having previously pulled out of negotiations due to the Blues' high asking price.

Sky Sports reported that their third bid, worth £55 million, was rejected, but that the proposal was still on the table for Chelsea to address at a later date.

But The Athletic's David Ornstein has now reported that both sides have finally come to an agreement over the transfer.

Ornstein says that United and Chelsea have agreed a £60 million fee for the 24-year-old midfielder, whose contract at Stamford Bridge expires next summer.

A total of £55 million of that figure represents the initial fee, with £5 million in add-ons.

These add-ons are referred to as 'difficult', although it is unclear at this stage as to what it would take for United to trigger them.

Mount has been given permission to complete a medical and finalise personal terms with United.

Once his move to Old Trafford is finalised, Mount will end a near 20-year association with Chelsea that began when he trained at the club's academy at the age of four.
