Man Utd flop Wout Weghorst 'wanted' by Everton as fans predict certain relegation
Football fans have joked Everton 'are trying everyone to get themselves relegated' after the Toffees were linked with Red Devils flop Wout Weghorst - who is set to leave Old Trafford
Manchester United fans have joked Everton are getting ready for the Championship after the Toffees were linked with Red Devils flop Wout Weghorst.
Erik ten Hag signed the Dutchman on loan in January, but he's failed to impress United fans during his stint. And with Weghorst set to return to parent club Burnley, talkSPORT are reporting Everton want to sign the big man.
The Toffees narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League this season - only avoiding the drop on the final day. However, United fans have joked they won't be able to repeat the trick if they put pen to paper on a deal to sign Weghorst.
One fan joked: "Haven’t Everton fans suffered enough!?"
"No wonder Everton nearly gets relegated every season with this recruitment," a second added. While a third tweeted: "Why do they want a striker that does not score goals?"
"Everton are trying everything in their power to get relegated but the league is not letting them," a fourth joked. And another added: "Fair play to Everton that will guarantee them 5 goals next season in all comps..."
Speaking to MUTV, Weghorst said: "I'm still really, really proud and thankful that I'm playing for this amazing club - big club - the most beautiful club in England.
"I've really tried to give my all in every match I've played, in every minute I've had. It doesn’t matter which position it is, I always give my best.
"Of course, for me as a striker, only two goals is not enough. It’s not good. That's just the only thing for me that's disappointing, because I know I'm capable to do it."
