Manchester United fans will have three names in their prayers in the build up to the Champions League final - in the form of some familiar figures.

Former Red Devils Romelu Lukaku, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Matteo Darmian are all set to play a part as Pep Guardiola's Manchester City look to topple Inter Milan to repeat United's heroic achievement of 1998/99.

City are huge favourites to get the job done after seeing off Arsenal in the Premier League and United in the FA Cup - but Simone Inzaghi's men are looking for a cup double after tasting Coppa Italia glory last month.

Lukaku has found his shooting boots in recent weeks with five goals across the final five Serie A games of the season after five in his previous 20 fixtures.

The Belgium international scored 42 goals across his two seasons with United between 2017 and 2019, leaving for Inter and rejoining on loan from Chelsea.

Mkhitaryan has played in all 12 Champions League fixtures so far this season and managed two goals, remaining a key creative figure from midfield under Simone Inzaghi.

The former Armenia international, 34, played 63 times for United after joining from Borussia Dortmund, leaving in a swap deal with Alexis Sanchez in 2018.

Darmian has made 47 appearances in all competitions for Inter this season, starting in a back three across both semi-final legs.

Defender Darmian spent four years at United making 92 appearances, leaving for Parma in 2019 before joining Inter and winning Serie A.

Inzaghi has said of the task at hand: "We know what kind of match to expect tomorrow, we know what kind of match we have to play.

"We know that Manchester City right now is probably the best team in the world.

"They have proved so in being defeated very few times, but we are aware of our Champions League campaign, we are proud of what we have done.

"We will do out best to play the final with high concentration, we must make no mistakes because our opponents are very very strong."
