Man United ‘to offer’ £40 million plus Harry Maguire and Anthony Elanga for West Ham’s Declan Rice

Manchester United have reportedly enquired about signing West Ham captain Declan Rice.

Over the last few weeks, Rice’s future has been the talk of the town after it was confirmed that he will leave West Ham during the summer transfer window.

Club chair David Sullivan told talkSPORT: "We promised him he could go. He set his heart on going. You can't ask for a man who has committed more to us this season."

Arsenal are believed to be in pole position to sign the 24-year-old and have had two bids rejected already.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are said to be preparing an offer to sign Rice as they hope to beat Arsenal to his signature.

Now, according to the Daily Mail, United have enquired about signing Rice, with a view to offering £40 million plus Harry Maguire and Anthony Elanga.

Fans were quick to react to the potential bid from the Old Trafford club.

One said: “West Ham have countered the offer and accepted just the £40 million.”

Another tweeted: “If I'm West Ham, I'm offended.”

A third fan added: “This is one of the most disrespectful offers I have ever seen, Elanga? Seriously??”

Someone else wrote: “On what planet are Maguire and Elanga worth £60m ish.

Whilst a fifth commented: “Frankly this is absolutely embarrassing.”

Another fan said: “Now that’s what you call a truly embarrassing offer.”

Mail Sport reported that Mikel Arteta believes Rice will one day take over as Arsenal’s captain if he moves to the Emirates Stadium.

It has been previously reported that Rice is keen on joining the Gunners. However, City’s interest could complicate things for Arsenal.

The report states that playing for the Treble winners and Pep Guardiola could tempt Rice to make the move to Manchester.

This transfer saga is bound to go on for the rest of the summer. Who do you think Rice should sign for? Let us know in the comments.
